Slane 2-11 Moylagh 1-10
Slane opened their league campaign with a win away to Moylagh on Sunday morning.
Moylagh started off on the right foot scoring two points in quick succession but Slane got their name on the scoreboard after 10 minutes with a penalty scored by Alan Harding. The penalty was quickly followed by a point and another goal scored by Podge McGowan. The two teams exchanged points, with Daniel Carolan scoring two for Slane, bringing the tally to 2-3 to 5 points after 20 minutes. Slane received a blow when Willie Clarke went off after 25 minutes with a what looked like a hamstring injury. A well taken point by Kevin Reilly closed the first half scoring, leaving Slane ahead by 2-4 to 6 points.
Moylagh opened the second half scoring with a goal that eventually found the back of the net after their first attempt on target was saved superbly by Darren Berrill. Slane responded with a point from Barry Carolan followed by a free scored by Podge McGowan. Both teams exchanged points with Eanna Mooney and Alan Harding scoring for Slane. The scoreline read 2-9 to 1-9 after 52 minutes. In the final ten minutes both teams converted from free kicks with McGowan adding a well taken point from play to secure Slane's victory.
