Na Fianna: 3-16 Seneschalstown; 1-08

Na Fianna were in fine form on Sunday morning in Seneschalstown as they claimed a well deserved opening round win in the AFL Div 1.

Na Fianna had the ideal start when Jamie Queeney netted an early goal with a powerful finish. 

Meath Senior player Conor Downey was in fine form as he hit four first half points and also finished a well worked move to the net on the stroke of half time. 

Damien Downey  helped himself to two points while Barry Clancy and Michael Collins also got on the scoreboard with a point each. 

Strong defending restricted the home side to 0-4 in the first half although they were guilty of numerous wides.

Na Fianna continued where they left off in the second half, with Barry Slevin tapping over a point followed by a Barry Clancy score.

Seneschalstown netted a penalty soon after but Jamie Queeney countered with a point, followed by a Clancy free and two more points from Queeney.

Late points from Clancy, Owen McDonnell and Mark Slevin saw the game out for Na Fianna.

Na Fianna had excellent showings from Peter Slevin, Anthony Neary, James Geagan, Jamie Queeney, Conor Downey, Owen McDonnell, Barry Clancy and Barry Slevin.
