In what was the last final of the year Oldcastle claimed the Meath Under 21 B football championship title with a seven point win over Drumconrath/Meath Hill at Carlanstown.

Oldcastle 2-13 Drumconrath/Meath Hill 0-12

Shane McCabe opened the scoring for the amalgamation side. Oldcastle captain Sean Maxwell tied up the game after seven minutes and the teams were still level at 0-2 each after 15 minutes when the games first goal arrived. Conor Delaney's shot came back of the upright and fell to Ronan Maguire who finished to the Drumconrath Meath Hill net. CJ Healy pointed two frees and Oldcastle led 1-4 to 0-3 with ten minutes remaining.

Drumconrath Meath Hill narrowed the gap with two points from James Mooney and the impressive Ian Malone but Oldcastle finished with a flourish that yielded three points, all from frees, through Healy (2) and Jason Scully to go in at the break 1-7 to 0-5 ahead.

The opening ten minutes of the second half was all the number 13's. Ian Malone was in devastating form for the boys in 'Red and Blue' and sent over four points in this period while his opposite number Jason Scully replied twice. This left a goal between the teams 1-9 to 0-9 but Drumconrath Meath Hill were dealt a blow when the hard working Shane McCabe was 'black carded'.

Further scores from county minor Scully, Maxwell and Maguire closed out the win for the Harry Taggary, Paddy Gilsenan trained outfit.
