U13 Div 4 final: Castletown go down to Kilbride

December 04, 2016

The Castletown Under 13 squad

Kilbride 7-14 Castletown 0-4

Castletown ended their year with the U13s going down in the Div 4 final to a very strong Kilbride outfit.

It took nine minutes for Castletown to register their first score a point from Rian Mc Connell and even at this early stage they were struggling with the power, height and pace of the eventual winners. Patrick Mc Kenna pointed two points on 12 and 22 minutes for Castletown  to leave a mountain for them to climb by being 16 points in arrears at the break. Kilbride 4-7 to Castletown 0-3.

In the early stages of the second half Castletown had the share of  possession but it was time and time again broken down by the Kilbride rearguard. Castletowns only second half score came from Adam Matthews on 13 minutes. Kilbride tagged on a further 3-7 for the second half to win convincingly on a scoreline of Kilbride 7-14 to Castletowns 0-4.

In 2009 Castletown played Kilbride in the U13 Div 3c final and took away the honours but today was just not their day.Well done on reaching the final today but hard luck to the team and their mentors Joey Matthews and James Mc Connell.

Castletown panel: John Paul O Byrne, Mikey Mc Govern, Euan Sheridan, Keelan Sheerin, Adam Matthews 0-1, Ciaran O Dea, Conor Price, Rian Mc Connell 0-1, Patrick Mc Kenna 0-2, Killian Smyth, Aron Monaghan, Cormac Farrelly, Darragh Kelly, Darren Mc Mahon.
