Donaghmore Ashbourne v Dunshaughlin, Preliminary SFC Quarter Final in Pairc Tailteann on Sunday October 2nd at 1.45. Referee Colm McManus

Few would have predicted this pairing in the hoganstand.com Meath Senior Football Championship preliminary quarter-final.

Donaghmore Ashbourne were expected to finish higher than 3rd in Group B while Dunshaughlin have done extremely well to come out of a group that included the big three of Na Fianna, Simonstown and O'Mahonys.

Despite the Feis Cup title under their belts and a place in the All County League Division 1 final secured, Donaghmore Ashbourne's championship form has been indifferent with wins over St Pats, Duleek Bellewstown and Ratoath but losses to Summerhill and Dunboyne.

Dunshaughlin's championship campaign has been similar with three wins and two losses. Anthony's Moyles' men will take a great deal of confidence from their last round win over holders O'Mahonys which ended their reign as champions. Dunshaughlin lost to Na Fianna 0-16 to 1-12, beat Wolfe Tones 0-16 to 1-12, defeated Moynalvey 3-17 to 2-3 and lost to Simonstown 1-13 to 0-11.

When they met in round 7 of the All County League Division 1 it was Sean Kelly's men who recorded a comfortable 1-18 to 1-6 win in Ashbourne.
