Bective celebrate as Dunsany are left disappointed

Silverware was earned, knockout progress ensured and anguish suffered in a hectic weekend of action on the football fields of Meath. We pick out our top fifteen performers.

1 Shane Breslin (Bective)
Commanding and assured, the veteran was dominant under the high ball and his kick outs were excellent. A junior medal was a fitting reward for all those years soldiering with the club - including playing midfield on the run to the 1999 IFC semi-final - since he made his first team debut 18-years-ago.

2 Ben Malone (Bective)
Our man of the match from the junior decider, Malone gave as good a display of defending as any that has been seen in Pairc Tailteann this year. His reading of the play and ability to be first to the ball were outstanding last Sunday.

3 Caoimhin King (Dunshaughlin)
The team captain gave another pivotal performance at the edge of the square for the 'Black and Ambers' as they ended Navan O'Mahonys hopes of retaining the Keegan Cup.

4 James Reilly (Gaeil Colmcille)
Has the knack at been in the right place at the right time. Won loads of breaking ball that proved crucial as the Kells men advanced to the quarter final by beating Blackhall Gaels in Walterstown.

5. Brian McGrath (Simonstown)
Sent Colm O'Rourke's charges on the road to victory against Na Fianna with two sweetly struck points early on and performed his defensive duties admirably.

6 Anthony Forde (Moynalvey)
The dual player carried out his defensive duties with great effect went forward at every opportunity, kicking two points as Moynalvey saved their best to last and sent Wolfe Tones into the relegation battle.

7 Tadhg O Dushlaine (Dunshaughlin)
One of the outstanding displays of the weekend, topped off with five points from play and placed balls as champions O'Mahonys were knocked out. The talented half back should be on Andy McEntee's radar.

8 Graham Reilly (St Colmcilles)
Once more the star of the show as the Bettystown men advanced to the semi-final. The county man hit nine points in their 1-17 to 1-11 win over Curraha at Duleek.

9 Shane Brennan (Dunsany)
Scored three fine points - one of which was a fisted effort that could easily have found the Bective net - in an excellent display. Never gave up and was a key figure as Dunsany came from four points down to level the JFC final with eight minutes to go

10 Michael Foley (Na Fianna)
Ran the show for the Enfield Baconstown Rathmolyon outfit as they eased to the Junior C championship title. The former Leitrim footballer kicked eight points in that 2-24 to 0-7 win over Dunsany.

11 Cathal McConnell (Bective)
His ability to run directly at the Dunsany defence gave Bective the out they needed when they were under pressure. His point with five minutes to go was the crucial score of the match, restoring the lead for his side after Dunsany had hit four scores on the trot.

12 Stephen Coogan (Dunderry)
The star of the show in Athboy. Gave the Trim rearguard numerous problems and top scored with an impressive 1-6 in their quarter final win.

13 Padraic McKeever (Simonstown)
The captain stepped up to the plate for Simonstown in the absence of county player Sean Tobin when hitting 1-6 in their must-win game against Na Fianna.

14 Robert McCarthy (Dunboyne)
A big plus for the Keegan Cup favourites. The former Dublin senior kicked six points from play and placed ball as St Peters cemented their place at the top of B.

15 Brian Ennis (Summerhill)
Gave an exhibition of shooting as Summerhill advanced from the group stages. The corner forward sent over seven points and will play a major role for the 'Hill' if they are to land the Keegan Cup.
