Aonghus Mulvihill - Donaghmore Ashbourne

Don/Ash 2-19

St. Peter's 2-10

Donaghmore Ashbourne's intermediate Hurlers got their first Championship victory under their belts this afternoon in Kilmessan after a 9 point win over St.Peter's Dunboyne.

Cian Field had the Moores on the board inside a minute before points from Andy O'Connor and a free had Peters ahead. It was the only time they led all game as Ashbourne hit their stride with five points in the next five minutes from Martin Quinn, Colm Randle and three from Davey Carey.

Carey found the net with 15 gone to extend the lead to six and despite Dunboyne scoring 1-1 in the last five minutes of the half, points from Terry Bruton, Field and Carey had Don/Ash in front at the break by 1-09 to 1-07.

Peters got the first score of the second half but it was almost immediately cancelled out after Eoghan O'Hara flicked a long range Carey free into the net. Don/Ash then went on the charge with the next eight scores - braces from Quinn and Field and four from Carey. Dunboyne threatened a late comeback with 1-03 in the space of three minutes but two more from Carey confirmed a vital win for Don/Ash.
