Moynalty's Luke Murphy

Luke Murphy is a 2nd Year Science student at NUIG, studying Botany, Earth and Ocean Science and German. Before heading to NUIG Luke attended St. Ciaran's Community School in Kells, played football with Moynalty GFC and rugby with North Meath Rugby Club in Kells. He was part of the successful Moynalty squad that won minor league and champoionshiup titles in 2014.

When he arrived in NUIG he was looking for something new and different to try out and had an immediate love for the physicality, speed and skill lacrosse offered. He began playing and immediately took to the game.  He is now chairman of the NUIG Lacrosse club and captain of the men's team.

In 2015 he was selected as part of the 23-man roster that would represent Ireland at the 2016 U19 World Lacrosse Championships in Vancouver.  Luke is heading to Vancouver on Sunday 3rd July with the rest of the Irish squad to begin preparations for the tournament which begins in Port Coquitlam, British Columbia, Canada on 7th July to 16th. Their Group matches are against Scotland, Spain and Korea and hopefully into the knockout stages after that.
