CLANN NA NGAEL 0-15 SYDDAN 0-10
CLANN NA NGAEL were beaten by 29 points in the opening round tie but they had five points to spare at the end of this Junior C encounter at Bective.
The winners led throughout and while Syddan got within a point on a number of occasions they never gained parity at any stage.
The Athboy men were four points ahead before Conor Dillon opened the Syddan account.
Further points from Dillon and Darren Smith closed the deficit to the minimum and Syddan still trailed by a point after Cathal Dardis hit the target. Clann Na nGael then tagged on two points late in the half to lead 0-7 to 0-4 at the break.
Dillon (free) and Smith added to the Syddan tally at the start of the second half but that was the closest they got.
Conor Dillon's sixth point left two between the sides on 55 minutes but Clann Na nGael pressed home their superiority with the last three points of the game.
