FL Div 3: Five out of five for Curraha

April 29, 2016

Curraha's James McEntee

Curraha 2-14
Carnaross 1-08

Curraha made it five from five after this convincing display against Carnaross.

Curraha are unbeaten in the Meath League competition since 2014 and they got off to the perfect start in this round five encounter with a well worked goal coming from county star James McEntee. They added two points from Brian Murphy and Neil Shortall to hold a five point advantage after five minutes. Carnaross added a free but further points from the home side were added thanks to McEntee and Niall Moriarty. Carnaross responded with two more points but a Moriarty free was added along with a well taken goal from corner back David Coyle. David Toner cancelled out a point from Carnaross before Moriarty got his third of the opening half to give his side a seven point advantage on a score line of 2-07 to 0-6.

Phelim Dowling got a well worked team point with his left foot inside the opening minutes to give Curraha the platform to kick on for the second half and with 38 year old Locky Keogh getting on top in the midfield battle Curraha never looked like losing the game. Moriarty kicked two frees along with a peach with his left foot while hard working Danny Battersby added a point of his own. Two more Moriarty frees either side of a lucky goal from Carnaross saw Curraha finish out the game with the final say.

Best for Curraha were Keogh, Battersby, Moriarty and Luke McCarthy.
