James McEntee in action for UCD

Meath senior stars Padraic Harnan and James McEntee were part of the strong UCD team that defeated NUIG today at Dangan toqualify for the Sigerson Cup quarter final. The UCD squad also included Colm Honan (Navan O'Mahony's).

NUIG scored a comfortable victory over Trinity last week and they enjoyed a 1-3 to 0-3 interval lead today thanks to Owen Gallagher's goal.

But, with Westmeath star John Heslin (0-7) in good scoring form, John Divilly's charges outscored their opponents by eight points to three in the second-half.

A 55th minute point from Heslin's Lake County team-mate Ray Connellan left the bare minimum between the sides with five minutes remaining but it finished UCD 0-11, NUIG 1-6.

Dublin ace Paul Mannion also got on the scoresheet with two points for the Belfield outfit who will now face UCC in the last eight.
