Clann Na nGael 2-10 Drumree 0-11
Clann na nGael were never headed in this semi final contest played in Trim Saturday afternoon in front of a large crowd in glorious sunshine.
Eamon O'Donnacha got Clann na nGael off to a great start with a 65 and Martin Keogh doubled the lead with a good score from play. O'Donnacha converted a free to leave it 3 pts to no score before Drumcee finally got off the mark. The Athboy/Rathcairn lads lead had been cut to a point with 10 minutes left in the half when Benny Murray pounced on a short free to score his sides first goal.
The half time score was 1-6 to 0-6 in Clanns favour.
After the break Clann na nGael added 2 more scores without reply and looked to be on their way. However Drumree upped the ante and began to cut into the lead. They had cut the lead back to a point with 10 minutes left and looked like going on to win. But the Clann na nGael subs had a big say in the last 5 minutes. Luke Swaine on at midfield scored a good point after a great run and then Daithí Geraghty on for brother Paddy won a ball in the corner and picked out Gary Cole on the edge of the square. A point looked the best option but Cole took the harder option and burried the ball in the net to finally kill off a strong Drumcee challenge.
