A great day was had by all as 16 teams from across all 4 provinces of Ireland took part in the annual All Ireland Intermediate football 7's competition that took place in Sean Eiffe Park, Ratoath.

The competition, in its 9th year of existence, began at 10 a.m and it became apparent that the Galway club side, Killannin were the team to beat as they recorded victories by sizeable margins. Nevertheless the reigning champions, An Gaeltacht were determined to retain their trophy and it came as no surprise both teams got through to the final with the latter overcoming Rathkeale in a closely fought semi final.

KILLANNIN 3-9 AN GAELTACHT 0-8

Killannin emerged as deserving winners of the All Ireland 7's as they brushed aside the challenge of An Gaeltacht in the final.

The game played 10 minutes per half began with An Gaeltacht through Padraig ó Sé drawing first blood but thereafter it was the West Galway men who were in the ascendancy. Point from Damien Carter, Johnny Heaney & Patrick Sweeney made the score 6 points to 3 when a goal at the stroke of half time from Gary Heffernan made it an uphill task for the West Kerry side going into the second half( 1-6 to 0-3)

It was point for point initially after the interval with scores from Cian ó Múrchú for An Gaeltacht cancelled out by points from Sweeney & Heaney for Killannin until a move midway through the second half ,once again finished to the net by Heffernan effectively finished the game as a contest. Although the Kerry side continued to battle, gallantly, until the end it was the team from the Rosscahill area of Galway who had the final say with another goal , this time from Heaney to put the gloss on a superb team performance running out 10 point winners
