Ladies: Boardsmill advance to Junior B final

This game was an excellent advertisement for Ladies  Junior Football, played in bright sunshine on Saturday afternoon last. Boardsmill came out on top and will now play near neighbours Ballivor in a repeat if last years epic semi final.

The visitors started  brightly with Caroline Quinn pointing an early free . The game was very cagey in the nearly stages and it took 14 minutes before the Tones full forward Lisa Clarke responded from a close range free. . Caoimhe Bird was very influential at midfield and with Hannah Tuite  in command in their  half back line , it wasn't long before the visitors tagged on 1.02 points through Bird  and Quinn (1.1)Sinead Blaney in the home goals kept her side in the game on 24 minutes with a fine double save  before Quinn found the net again.

Wolfe tones had an excellent opportunity to reduce the deficit but Clarke pulled a penalty wide on 29 minutes. Not to be outdone the home side rallied and recorded 1.1 through Emer Hubble and Aisling Rooney as Sarah Stanley called time .  Both teams went in at the break feeling they could have scored more goals and all in attendance looked forward to the second   period. Boardsmill's Megan Loughran came on for Emma Mitchell and she opened the scoring with a point on 36 minutes. The game was keenly contested and a number of robust tackles saw Stanley brandish a yellow card  to a Tones player 2 minutes later . Quinn pointed twice when the visitors had a player advantage  before Clarke pointed another free to narrow the gap to 6 points. Aisling Whelan moved from centre back to centre forward and scored an excellent goal for Wolfe Tones on 47 minutes .

The next score was vital at this stage but the home sides chances  were badly hampered when they received another yellow card on 52 minutes. Quinn capitalised again and struck for her third goal to all but seal victory for the south Meath girls . There was still time for Paula Dorian to tag on another point for Boardsmill and for the home side to finish strongly with 3 unanswered points through Clarke (2) and Hubble.

Caoimhe Bird, Sinead McLoughlin, Hannah Tuite and Niamh McEvoy were best for Boardsmill. They were ably supported by Caroline Quinn and Maeve Murray.
