At 5.30, Dee Rangers will be hoping to repeat their success of 2014 on Finals Day. Having won the Meath Junior A Championship, the Leinster Junior Championship and reaching the All Ireland Junior Club Semi-Final, it was a busy 2014 for the girls in black and white. However, they have been unrelenting and their progress in 2015 continues unabated.
They annexed the Division Two League back in May, overcoming a strong Royal Gaels outfit and went on an impressive unbeaten run in the group stages of the Championship. Saturday however will be a tough assignment as they meet St. Michaels whose only loss in the Championship to date has been Dee Rangers. The Syddan/ Drumconrath/ Meath Hill based side will know if they want to win the McKeown Cup, they will have to earn it. They will be led by their captain Orlaith Duff, who has had a superb Championship herself while Kelly Farrelly, Becks Goodwin and Lisa Young will all have key parts to play.
St. Michaels recovered from their opening round defeat to Dee Rangers to go on an unbeaten run in the 2015 Coca-Cola Championship. Carlanstown was a fortress as they racked up sizable scores at home against Donaghmore-Ashbourne, Moynalvey and Blackhall Gaels. Finishing second in the final table, St. Michaels secured that vital home advantage and faced Royal Gaels in the semi-final.
A tense and tight battle from the off, St. Michaels were single point winners - a 1-12 to 1-11 scoreline enough to see them through to the final. St. Michaels' blend of younger and more experienced players will be key to victory with Marion Farrelly, Captain Sinead McCormack and Sharon Callaghan key to their scoreboard tally. Good luck to both sides in what promises to be a terrific battle!
