Ladies Preview: 2 mouth-watering semi-finals in the Junior

September 02, 2015

Dunsany's Megan Thynne

The Junior A Championship has thrown up two mouth-watering semi-finals. Dunsany topped the Junior A table and they face Clann na Gael in Dunsany.

When the sides met in the round stages of the Championship, the game finished level - Clann na nGael 3-08 to Dunsany's 1-16. Goals will be crucial for the Athboy/Rathcairn side if they are to book their place in the final. Their defence will also need to be rock solid as the Dunsany attack has been ruthless this Championship. Dunsany were beaten by Dee Rangers in last year's Junior A Final and this has perhaps inspired them this season. They have gone unbeaten thus far in the Championship and will look forward to a meeting with Clann na nGael on Wednesday evening.

The second Junior A semi-final pairs St. Colmcilles with Dunboyne. St. Colmcilles have been building nicely all year. The Graham Reilly trained side finished second in the table and secured home advantage which could prove key with their supporters called to come out in big numbers and support their side. When the sides met in the round stages, St. Colmcilles came away with the spoils - winning by a solitary point - St. Colmcilles 2-13, Dunboyne 3-09. Dunboyne will revel the opportunity to exact revenge and will need to be at their very best if they are to book their place in the Junior A Final.
