Despite it being August, the U14 Div1 squads from Walterstown & Dunshaughlin renewed acquaintances on a decidedly autumnal evening in Walterstown at the semi-final stage in the in the U14 Championship. Playing with the breeze towards the clubhouse in the first half, Spring League Champions Walterstown got off to a dream start finding the net early on and followed this up shortly afterwards with a brace of points. Dunshaughlin responded with a pointed free kick and the 1st half largely continued in this pattern with Walterstown outscoring the visitors and keeping their noses in front throughout.

Upon resumption, Walterstown stretched their lead as they found the back of the "onion bag" once again to stretch their lead to 9pts. Dunshaughlin never game up and brought the game to the home side but they found the Walterstown defence on top of their game with some fantastic displays of blocking, tackling and harrying results in Dunshaughlin only finding the target on 2 occasions in the second half. Walterstown matched their first half scoring tally in the second half with some excellent inter-linking play and score taking and ended the game 13pts to the good.

Walterstown now meet Donaghmore/Ashbourne in the decider, a game which is a re-match of the Spring League final which Walterstown shaded. The Div1 final for the Paddy O'Brien Cup has been pencilled in for Thurs 10th Sept at 20:15 in Paddy O'Brien Park on Brews Hill, Navan
