Killyon ............ 2-16
O'Mahonys ....... 0-8

The win secured second spot in the group for Killyon and a quarter-final meeting with Dunboyne

Killyon made most of the running and might have won by a wider margin but for registering 18 wides to O'Mahonys' eight. In addition O'Mahonys' 'keeper John Gleeson made several fine saves.

With Dunderry and Blackhall Gaels drawing a win for O'Mahonys here would have seen them get second spot ahead of Killyon. Such a scenario was never likely as Declan Mullen's men bossed matters from the off.

On a down note, Killyon lost Stefan Kelly - scorer of their first goal - to a red card in the latter stages and looks set to miss the quarter-final.

Keith Keoghan outscored O'Mahonys on his own with nine points (eight frees) while John Foley accounted for all bar one of the town side's tally.

A mighty catch from Ger Foley

Playing to the dressing room end, Killyon were 0-13 to 0-3 ahead at the break.

O'Mahonys' best spell occurred in the third quarter. They doubled their tally within ten minutes of the restart. They might have got closer to Killyon's but Duggie Dillon's kicked effort went low and wide in the 36th minute.

It was in this phase of the game that Shane Crosby become O'Mahonys' sole other scorer.

Killyon finally breached the O'Mahonys' goal in the 42nd minute with Kelly netting and Calvin Ryan providing the assist for his side's first score of the second-half.

That left it 1-13 to 0-6 and effectively ended O'Mahonys' challenge. Adam Gannon, now operating at full-forward, bagged Killyon's second goal in the 58th minute.
It was left to Keoghan (free) to close the scoring.
