Sean Boylan and John Maughan were rival managers when Meath and Mayo clashed in the All-Ireland SFC final back in 1996 but these days they are united in their support for the Achill junior football team.

The reason? Boylan's son Ciaran plays for Achill, who are coached by Maughan, and the four-time All-Ireland winning Royal boss was an interested spectator in Elverys MacHale Park last weekend as last year's beaten finalists took on Louisburgh in the Mayo JFC reports the Mayo News.

And Boylan and Maughan were happy men at the final whistle as Achill scored a 1-12 to 0-10 victory to book their place in the last four of the competition.
