SFC: Tones too hot for Duleek Bellewstown

August 24, 2015

Thomas O'Reilly Wolfe Tones

Wolfe Tones 0-15 Duleek Bellewstown 2-5

Wolfe Tones have made it in to the last 8 thanks to this victory over Duleek Bellewstown in wet slippery conditions in Skryne. Tones led by 0  09 to 0  04 at half time thanks to points from Thomas O Reilly, Fiachra Ward , Alan Fox, Éanna Harrington Niall Mc Loughlin and Cian Ward (0  03, 1 45, 1F) and when they added 3 points in the opening stages of the second half from Cian Ward, Stephen Sheppard and Fiachra Ward while conceding one they appeared to be comfortable on a 0 -12 to 0  05 score-line with just 15 minutes remaining. However they were rocked by 2 goals which were answered by a Thomas O Reilly point to leave just 2 between the teams with  5 minutes remaining. The combination side missed a medium range free shortly afterwards which would have given them further momentum. Tones broke upfield from the resultant kick out and Cian Ward added a point after substitute Brughach O Fionnagain was fouled to ease the Tones worries. Daniel O Neill added the insurance point to see the Tones win by 4.

This was an improvement for the Tones on their last outing but they will be worried about the concession of those 2nd half goals. They will be happy with the spread of scorers and with the work ethic they showed to combat the running style of their opponents.
