Skryne 0-16 O'Mahonys 0-12

A strong Skryne start and finish to this game secured the country side the points in this JFC clash in Simonstown on Sunday. Skryne scored eight unanswered points in the opening thirteen minutes and four in the closing four minutes to secure victory.

At the end of the opening quarter, it looked like it was going to be a complete washout, a bit like the weather, for the Navan side but they did find their feet and clawed their way back into the game, dominating the remainder of the half and restricting Skryne to a further point before the break to go in at the break just three points down, 0-9 to 0-6. O'Mahonys got five players on the scoresheet before the break with Ciarán O'Hanlon raising the white flag twice and Brian Gibney, Cormac McEnteggart, Robbie Keeleghan and Gavin Fox all also scoring for O'Mahonys.

Points were exchanged at the beginning of the second half before 3 unanswered points from O'Mahonys saw them draw level at 0-10 points a-piece 13 minutes into the second half. Skryne went two ahead again before two points from O'Hanlon restored parity at 0-12 points each with seven minutes remaining.

However, it was not to be for O'Mahonys as Skryne once again dominated the final exchanges, raising the white flag four times before the final whistle to claim a four point victory.

The young O'Mahonys side showed great resilience in coming back to draw level on two occasions. Some great saves from Colm Honan in goals also ensured that Skryne didn't pull away until the final stages of the game. Ciaran O'Hanlon's speed and accuracy up front was also critical for the Navan side's comeback.
