St Ultans hold top spot in the senior championship

As the Coca Cola sponsored Meath Ladies club football championship takes a well earned summer break there is still plenty to play for after the completion of Round 5.

Senior Championship Round Five

Seneschalstown 1-08  1-17 St. Ultans

Boardsmill 5-16  0-05 Navan O'Mahonys

Na Fianna 2-05  3-12 Oldcastle

A six point haul for both Katie O'Brien and Geraldine Doherty and a first half goal by Ciara Murray gave St. Ultans a win over reigning Senior Champions Seneschalstown in Bective on Tuesday evening. St. Ultans took a four point lead into half-time (1-09 to 1-05) before stretching their lead in the second half.

Boardsmill produced a top-drawer display in Martry over Navan O'Mahonys with Susan Kealey (3-03) and Laura Dempsey (1-06) the top scorers. Sarah O'Reilly kicked 1-04 for Oldcastle as they overcame a tough Na Fianna outfit in the final game in Cortown on Tuesday evening. Heading into the holiday break, St. Ultans remain top of the table, followed by Seneschalstown, Boardsmill and Oldcastle.

The next round is scheduled for the 17th August with the final round on the 25th. This year's semi-finals are down for decision on 6th September while the Final is September 19th.

Intermediate Championship Round Five

Moynalvey 2-08  1-15 Royal Gaels

Don-Ashbourne 4-12  2-06 Ratoath

Dee Rangers 1-14  1-06 Summerhill

St. Michaels head into the holiday break on the back of a comfortable win over Blackhall Gaels on Monday evening. Leading by 1-11 to 0-05 at half time they kept the visitors scoreless in the second half with a solid defensive display that will surely put them in a wonderful position after the break.

Royal Gaels were the victors against Moynalvey on Tuesday evening. 1-03 from Niamh Gallogly and 0-06 from Laura Murray set the Dunshaughlin side on to victory.

Hosts Donaghmore-Ashbourne got their first win of the Championship against neighbours Ratoath on Tuesday. Leading by 1-07 to 2-02 at half time, the Mores dug deep and ran out convincing winners.

Dee Rangers go into the holiday break still undefeated in the Intermediate Championship. Kelly Farrelly got six points for the home side with Lisa Young (0-05) and Rebecca Goodwin (1-02) also to the fore for the Rangers.

Junior A Championship Round Five

St. Pats/Duleek-Bellewstown 0-08  3-19 Dunboyne

St. Colmcilles 0-09  2-06 Dunsany

Moylagh 2-11  5-11 Clann na nGael

A 1-10 haul for Vikki Wall and 2-05 for Aoife Thompson paved the way for a convincing Dunboyne win in Bellewstown on Monday evening against St. Pats/Duleek-Bellewstown. Meath Captain, Kate Byrne kicked 0-06 for the home side but Dunboyne were in defiant form on the back of two defeats.

The win brings Dunboyne right back into contention with just two rounds left against Moylagh and Skryne respectively. Goals from Colette O'Connell and Kelley Gorman were enough to seal victory for Dunsany against St. Colmcilles on Monday evening.

The win for Dunsany puts them just a point shy of the top of the table with St. Pats/Duleek-Bellewstown up next for last year's finalists.

Clann na nGael took all three points home with them from Moylagh on Tuesday evening in a high scoring encounter - Louise O'Connor grabbed 3-01 for the visitors while Shauna Tully kicked four points. Naoise Gibney was Moylagh's top scorer kicking 1-02 for the home side.
