U8's Hurlers Shine At Croker

The thrill of running out in front of a crowd at Croke Park is every GAA player's dream from childhood. On July 13th & 14th Leinster GAA proudly made that dream come true for 3,000 children as they took part in the annual Leinster GAA Under 8 Croke Park Go Games Days in both codes of the sport. Over the course of the two days of activity and drawn from every corner of Leinster, there was more than 190 teams representing more than 130 clubs at the Go Games Days. This is the seventh year of the Leinster GAA Croke Park Go Games Days and in that time more than 21,000 young children have been able to get precious first-hand experience of being a GAA star on the biggest stage. It's an opportunity for Leinster GAA to acknowledge the work being done at grass roots within clubs to promote and develop our games and also a chance for these children to be 'bitten by the bug' by providing them with a chance to experience just what it's like to play on the biggest stage of all. As well as playing their matches on the hallowed turf, the children also got privileged access to the Croke Park dressing rooms before emerging out through one of the famous tunnels at GAA HQ to the roar of their own supporters and then showcase their skills. And for the really lucky ones there is the added highlight of following in the footsteps of their heroes and going up the steps of the Hogan Stand to collect a cup as winners. The buzz and excitement of being part of the Croke Park experience provides memories that will last a lifetime and the feedback from the parents and children involved shows just what a special occasion it is for those involved. The children all arrive with the shared thrill of living out the dream of being able to grace the same stage as the stars of today. And whether they win or lose on the day, they all leave with the same dream too - to one day make it back there to Croke Park for real as a senior inter county hero. Well done to all the children of St.Patricks Hurling section, to Hugh Reilly and his great team of mentors hurling is on the up at juvenile level within Naomh Padraig.

Meath Gaa Summer Cul Camps

Monday July 6th was the start of the Meath Gaa Cul Camp with St.Patricks Gaa Club Facilities been host grounds for the week. Kellogg's GAA Cúl Camps provided boys and girls - between the ages of 6 and 13 - with an action-packed and fun-filled week of activity during the summer holidays which revolves around maximizing enjoyment and sustaining participant involvement in Gaelic Games. Activities weree GAME - BASED - a strong emphasis is placed on skill acquisition - and are organised in an age appropriate manner with a view to optimizing learning, enhancing friendships, improving physical & psychological well being & promoting school and club links. The camps were structured so that a different aspect of the game was worked on each day. The programme envolved coaching specific skills of the game and the opportunity for children to put into practice what they have learned through small sided games. On the last day of the camp a "blitz" was organised to provide each child with an introduction to competitive games. Now with the Gaa Football Summer Cul Camp already taken place we remind all of the new "Hurling Camp" on 17th/21st August. All camps run from 10am to 2.30pm. Again your Cul Camp Coordinator is Dudley Farrell 087-9033789. Application forms are still available should you wish to send your child or online booking by going to kelloggsculcamps.gaa.ie

LGFA

Recent ladies results was Moylagh 2-6 (12) St. Pats/Duleek/Bellewstown 3-8 )17). A good win to start off the championship with it was always going to be a tough test going to the north Meath club and it was so. The game was still in the melting pot with only 5mins to go and the girls grounded out a tough but well deserved result. In their 2nd round they faced Skryne. The weather didn't damping or have any effect on a very strong performance from the ladies. The girls got out of the traps like lighting and never let up. At half time it was 1-18 to 0-01. The second half was all about keep the foot to the floor, they had about 80% of the ball of the second half where we picked off 3 goals by Alex Goodman, Kate Byrne and Emma White. It was an all round fantastic team performance and still alot to build on going further into the championship. Final Score St.Pats 4:25 (37) Skryne 4pts. Their next game was against Clan na Gael in Rathcairn & defeat for the ladies on a score 6:18 to 3:09. Round 4 played in Bellewstown seen the visit of Dunboyne but disappointment for the home side losing 3:19 (28) to 0:8pts.

Both of the latter results will feature on our facebook page along with images of both finals & a full report will feature in September's edition.
