Meath manager Mick O'Dowd with selector Sean Kelly

If Mick O'Dowd gets the green light to continue as Meath senior football manager, he will have to find a new selector following the departure of Sean Kelly.

The Irish Independent reports that, after three years as a selector along with Trevor Giles, Dunderry clubman Kelly informed O'Dowd over the weekend that he would not be continuing in the role.

The Drogheda-based school teacher, who guided Navan O'Mahonys to Meath SFC success in 2008, also served as a selector during Eamonn O'Brien's time at the Royal County helm.

O'Dowd expressed his desire to stay on for a fourth year following the two-point qualifier defeat to Tyrone in Omagh but conceded that his fate lay in the hands of the clubs of the county.

The position of senior football team manager is due to be on the agenda for the next County Board meeting which is pencilled in for Monday, August 10th.
