BFL5: Drums lose to Vincent's

June 30, 2015

Drumconrath's Alan McEvoy

Drumconrath 0-13
St Vincents 2-9

In a top of the table clash moved to Duleek as St Vincents began development work on their pitch the east Meath lads came out on top.

Drumconrath started well and led 0-2 to 0-0 early on but indeed could have been furter ahed had they taken their chances. St Vincents on their 1st attack where accredited with a goal that was hotly disputed by the Drumconrath men as the ball came back off the underside side of the bar.

The goal stood but soon Gavin Finnegan added a point to the two earlier ones from Tomas Conlon and Alan McEvoy to level the game. Further points from Finnegan and Daniel Myles were countered by the Vincents who had come more into the game.

Drums had pushed two ahead as Daniel Byrne and Finnegan again pointed but St Vincents added a 2nd goal to lead coming up to half time.

Conor O'Halloran drew the sides level again and Byrne put Drumconrath 0-10 to 2-3 ahead at the break.

Drumconrath continued in a lack luster style and St Vincents pointed twice on the restart to regain the lead. Byrne did draw the game level again but St Vincents added anothe 2 points to lead 2-7 to 0-11 at the three quarter stage.

Drumconrath seemed to come to life again as Byrne pointed a free and McEvoy hit a well struck 45 over the bar but St Vincents added two late points to secure victory and a Top of the table spot.

For Drumconrath a win in the last round may still give them a chance of a final spot but will have to watch other results to be sure.
