Simon Carty clears his lines for Meath against Down during the St Pats pitch opening at Stamullen

The communities of Robinstown, Dunderry and Kilmessan, indeed Meath in general, have been left stunned by the shocking news of Lorna Carty's death in the terrorist attack at a Tunisian holiday resort today.

The mother of Meath senior football panelist Simon Carty was one of 37 holiday makers who were killed after a gunman opened fire on a crowded beach in Sousse on the eastern coast of the country.

The attack happened at two hotels in the town which is one of Tunisia's most popular resorts with European tourists.

It is understood that Lorna, a sister of Kilmessan HC chairman Jim Harlin, was on holiday with her husband Declan who is not believed to have been on the beach at the time.

Declan is the current treasurer of Dunderry GAA club and the Meath SHC and JHC games involving Dunderry and Navan O'Mahonys and the JHC fixture between Kilmessan and Kiltale have been postponed as a mark of respect.

It is expected that a minute's silence will be observed in her memory in advance of Sunday's Leinster SFC semi-final between Meath and Westmeath.
