A GAA Summercamp is being run by St Michaels and Moynalty, with all funds going towards the fund for Cian McDonnell Lynch.
The camp is going ahead on July 20 - 23rd, with past and present players from both club doing coaching. For more details on the camp email [email protected]
Four year old Cian is from Carlanstown in Co Meath. He suffers from a very severe form of Dyskeratosis Congenita which affects one in a million.
In March 2013 Cian had a bone marrow transplant. This was successful. In January this year Cian went to hospital as he was low in energy and low oxygen saturation counts. He spent five weeks in hospital until he was diagnosed with microscopic pulmonary avms.
Doctors are not sure if this new problem is caused as a side effect of his bone marrow transplant or his underlying condition. This is very serious for Cian. His doctors recently gave his family the devastating news that Cian has only months to live but they are not giving up.
His files have been sent to Great Ormond Street for review. If they do not agree to do a lung transplant the family are hoping to take Cian to Boston as they are not ruling him out completely for a lung transplant.
Currently a number of fundraisers are being organised to raise the €500,000 needed for the operation in Boston.
