Summerhill's Kevin Ryan closes in on Alan Fox Wolfe Tones during the hoganstand.com SFC game at Dunsany

Summerhill were too good for Wolfe Tones in this hoganstand.com SFC Group A round three fixture at Dunsany on Saturday evening

Summerhill ....... 1-15
Wolfe Tones ...... 0-10

In overcast conditions Summerhill posted 1-8 without reply in 23 first-half minutes to secure their second win of the campaign. A second loss from as many outings leaves Wolfe Tones with a battle to make the business end.

Apart from a brief spell early on Summerhill were in control. Though their performance dipped after the break but they reasserted themselves in the final 10 minutes to outscore the 'Tones by 0-4 to 0-1.

Paul Rispin top scored for Summerhill with 1-5 from play. Brian Ennis chipped in with a quartet of points (two frees) but was also involved in the game's most notable incident, midway through the first-half.

Having fallen for a clever Stephen Sheppard flick, his subsequent impeding of the Wolfe Tones number 3 seemed to warrant a black card rather than the yellow one issued by referee Martin Griffin.

Seconds later Ennis' delivery set Rispin up for the goal that left it 1-5 to 0-2. The 'Hill - who lost to Moynalvey by six points last time out - posted five more points before the break. Scores from David Larkin and Rispin were top drawer efforts.

Thomas O'Reilly's 26th minute free ended Wolfe Tones' barren spell that followed the opening score, a point from play by the same player in the first minute.

Summerhill led by 11 points - 1-10 to 0-2 - at the break. For the resumption Wolfe Tones moved Sheppard to the number six spot from where he enjoyed greater influence and scored two points as well.

Wolfe Tones posted the next two scores through Paul Byrne and O'Reilly. They limited Summerhill to one point in the third quarter, Kevin Ryan's 40th minute effort.

Cian Ward didn't get on the scoresheet for Wolfe Tones but dropped deep in a bid to secure vital possession for his side. By the 49th minute, when Sheppard scored, the gap was down to five points, 0-9 to 1-11.

That was as good as it got for Wolfe Tones. Summerhil closed out the hour with three of the last four scores, including the final brace from Micheal Byrne and David Larkin.
