Dunderry's Kevin Dowd

Dunderry 0-7
Nobber 0-6

Dunderry got off the mark with their first win of the campaign in hard fought game on Saturday evening,

Dunderry opened the scoring with a Trevor Conaty free after 10 mins. The visitor's replied and scored 3 unanswered points Conaty again knocked over a free after good work from Darragh Scannell ended up with a free this seemed too push Dunderry on. Colm Harte and Stefan Clarke were not giving Nobber any time too run the game from the middle and the back line of Shane Maguire, Eoghan Dempsey and Kenny Fay smothered any attacks reducing Nobber to long range shots. Conaty scored a point and a well taken free in the 24th and 29th minutes too leave the halftime score 0-4 to 0-5 to Nobber.

2nd half started with Mark Kane knocking over a point in the 31st minute after good work from Thomas Doherty, Davy Gilkeson to level the scores. Nobber started to move the ball quicker but the Dunderry defence stood strong. David Callaghan who had replaced Kevin Dowd was immense in the centreback position, Nobber went a point clear again and almost got a goal but for a point blank block on the 14 yrd line by Mickey Dowdall. Again the Dunderry defence held strong and weathered the storm, Conaty scored another free in the 43rd minute his 5th score of the game to level the scores again. Mark Kane was re introduced when Jordan Martin had to go off injured again Dunderry used a smothering type of defence and Callaghan, Dowdall and Dempsey got in vital tackles. From one of these tackles in the 47th minute a move involving Dempsey, Dowdall, Alex Walsh who found Eoin Smyth who side stepped his marker and put over a fine point. The defence soaked up any Nobbers attacks to hold out and win.
