Moynalty's Plunkett Tormey

Moynalty 2-12
Moylagh 1-08

Moynalty returned from Millbrook Thursday night with the spoils after a hard fought victory over Moylagh.

The reds finally got on top of their opponents in the second half having been second best for much of the opening period. The first quarter moylagh gained control and their midfielders with late runs caused numerous problems one of which led to their goal a well taken finish from an acute angle. To be fair to the young Moynalty team they dug in well again a more physical side and points from Paul Lynch,Stephen Blackburn and Ollie Sheridan made it 1-02 TO 0-03 AFTER 20 minutes .Moylagh continued to press and added 3 further points but Moynalty got a break in the 26th minute when a speculative shot from Conor O Loughlin ended in the back of the net to send sides in on a scoreline of 1-06 to 1-04 in favour of the moylagh men.

It was a cagey third quarter with both sides trading 2 scores a piece but Moynalty finally gained control and had James Nevin and  Cathal Reilly in brillant form in defence . Midfielder Plunkett Tormay was outstanding throughout with mighty fielding and some great runs at the the heart of the Moylagh defence one of which yielded Moynaltys second goal in the 47th minute .Upfront the reds superior fitness began to tell and they hit 6 points on the spin from Lynch ,Sheridan and Jamie Maloney and were aided by the tigerish James Cassidy whose workrate was immense.

The victory keeps the reds well in the hunt in the league with 3 teams above them getting beaten this week and with four of the final five games to be played with home advantage.
