St Brigids maintained their good A League form when they defeated Longwood by a wide margin in Round 6.
On a sunny evening Brigid's Aron Kiernan opened the scoring with a goal and point in quick succession. Longwood settled themselves and scored three unanswered points. But Brigids took back control with Aron again scoring a superb long range point from the side line in the 16th minute followed quickly by another point from Shane Gilsenan and Ian Browne hitting the net in the 24th minute. Longwood replied with a point in the 25th minute but to no avail as Aron Kiernan, Dylan Tighe, Ian Browne and Michael Food punished Longwood with four futher points. Longwood opened the second half with two quick points but St Brigids took back control with points coming from Joseph Blake, Aron Kiernan, Oisin Kiernan, Killian Kiernan, Michael Flood, Stephen Browne and another goal from Michael Flood. Although Longwood managed to get another point Joseph Blake sealed the deal for St Brigids scoring a brilliantly struck forty five. Best for St Brigids Stephen Browne, Kevin Gilsenan and Michael Flood in a tough tackling defensive set up and Aron Kiernan, Killian Kiernan and Stephen Skelly in a hard working and free scoring forward unit. Obviously tougher tests lie ahead for St Brigids in both league and championship but on the night they deserved their victory.
