May 13, 2015

Simonstown keeper Darren Forde

Simonstown were comprehensively beaten by a very strong Clann na nGael team on a final score line of 3-14 V. 0-6  played in Simonstown on Tuesday night.

It was the home team who got off to a great start and led by 0-2 to 0-0 after five minutes thanks to points from Ciaran O'Reilly and Shane McHugh. But that was as good as it got for Simonstown and they did not score again until the 28th minute, a point from Colm O'Reilly. In the mean time Clann Na nGael had scored 1-6, with some fine scores taken by full-forward and man of the match Graham Geraghty. The half-time score read Clann na nGael 1-6 v. Simonstown 0-3.

The second half was not much better for the home team and if it was not for the heroic saves from Simonstown goalkeeper Darren Forde, the score line could of been a lot worse. Chris Smith playing at centre field added 0-2 from play, and wing back Ronan Smith got Simonstown's other score, while Clann na nGael hit another 2-8, to leave the final score Clann na nGael 3-14 v. Simonstown 0-6.

Best for Simonstown were Darren Forde in goals, Oisin Lavin Kelly, Daniel Byrne and Ronan Smith.
