Na Fianna girls got off to a winning start of their championship last Wednesday evening against Ratoath in Baconstown.

Tara Geraghty started well for the home side with a close wide then fouled for an Emma Coffey pointed free . Clare Flynn gaoled after 4mins then ratoath pointed a free .Shauna Ennis scored a great point from play then Emma Coffey scored a 45. Maire Kirby scored from play after on form Leah McNallys great clearance, Clare Flynn took advantage of a short  puck out and scored a point then Maire Kirby finished a well worked move with a nice point. Caroline Murphy did great work to get the ball across the square to Clare Flynn who scored her second goal then Siobhan Kirby was pulled down and Emma Coffey pointed the free. Maire Kirby finished the half with a point leaving the half time score Na Fianna 2-8, Ratoath 0-1.

Na Fianna got the first score of the 2nd half with Emma Coffey scoring from play and Maire Kirby getting na Fiannas 3rd goal which came from the hard working Annette Parkes. Maire was fouled and pointed the free then scored a point from play before ratoath scored their 1st goal and getting their 2nd 2 mins later ,then newcomer to the senior panel Katie mulvihill scored a point with Maire Kirby been fouled again and scored a point from her free. Claire Coffey was blown for over carrying and ratoath goaled from the free . Ratoath got a penalty and Claire Coffey saved and cleared to leave a final score
