March 30, 2015

SYDDAN 0-15
BALLINABRACKEY 0-11

SYDDAN put the brakes on Ballinabrackey's promotion push as they inflicted a first defeat of the campaign on the Offaly border side at Ludlow Park.

The game had an nine point turn around with the visitors leading 0-8 to 0-3 at half-time after having the advantage of the elements in the opening period.

Gary Farrelly (two) and Sean Clare were on target for the hosts as the teams were level at 0-3 each on 16 minutes.

The 'Bracks dominated the remainder of the half despite having Seamus Curry red-carded after 20 minutes. Midfielder Chris O'Connor pointed twice as they built up a five point advantage.

Daire Rowe (two) and Sean Malone had Syddan points within three points of the restart before Damien Carroll converted two frees to leave it 0-10 to 0-6.

Ballinabrackey only managed another point after that, also from a Carroll free, as Syddan took control of proceedings.

Daire Rowe's sixth point had the sides level at 0-10 apiece and he then added two further scores to put Syddan ahead for the first time.

Rowe eventually took his tally of points to nine while Kevin Traynor rounded off a fine display with his sides' last score.
