Ladies: Plenty of goals for Blackhall

The ladies played host to Skryne on Sunday in their second league match.
After losing by the smallest of margins in their last match, the team came out all guns blazing, getting off to the best possible start with a cracking Suzanne Kelly goal in the first minute. Skryne, not to be outdone, retaliated quickly with their own goal, setting the stage for a fascinating match.
What followed was an intense half with both teams showing periods of dominance. Surprisingly the score at half time was quite low, and Skryne probably deserved their lead of 3-2 to 2-1.
The Blackhall ladies knew that they had the ability to win the match, and showed their belief from the restart. They took charge of the match, eating into the lead through a combination of ferocious defending, blocks across the field and some nifty scoring from Lisa Kelly, who racked up an impressive 2-3 in the second half. They managed to gain a one-point lead, but unfortunately this difference was too small. Skryne, despite the team's best efforts, scored 1-1 in the space of a minute. These were the last scores of the match.
To lose the match after being so close to winning will rankle, but the performance from Blackhall was one filled with pride and determination. The ladies ran themselves into the ground, not quitting until the final whistle blew. With the next league match coming up in a couple of weeks, this looks like an extremely competent and capable team.
