HL1A: Blackhall lose to Kildalkey

March 23, 2015

Blackhall Gaels Dermot Carty

Blackhall Gaels 0-6
Kildalkey 2-18

Another disappointing outing for the Hurlers after their performance in Kildalkey on Saturday evening.

Without many of the regular starting team Blackhall got welcome back a few old faces. However, here in lies the main issue. While the lads battled hard until the final whistle the lack of recent hurling for the majority of the forwards was the telling factor.

Kildalkey racked up an impressive ten points from 18 chances in the first half while Blackhall managed only one point, from a free. The backs worked hard and Paul Kelly pulled off several brilliant saves.

The second half saw Kelly move out to the forwards. While mid-field struggled, Kildalkey punished with more impressive scores. Blackhall managed to finally tag on some scores, the pick of them a point by Phillip Carey, who was only on the pitch. Alan Nestor and Shane O'Loughlin both scored great points as well. The final score was 2-18 to 6.

Unfortunately, Kildalkey were definitely better on the day and the hurlers will need serious work before their next few matches.
