BFL5: Moynalty draw in Longwood

March 23, 2015

Moynalty's Patrick Farrelly

Moynalty 1-11
Longwood 2-08

Moynalty made the long journey to Longwood on Friday night and came away with a share of the spoils.

However they will feel hard done by a last gasp penalty decision after a brillant save by goalkeeper Thomas Owens. The away side had worked their way into a winning position in the last quarter yielding 1-04 the goal from Paddy Farrelly and some great scores from Ollie sheridan,Sean Lynch and Stephen Blackburn .To be fair to the home side it was they  who were in charge early on and they were guilty of 9 wides in the first half and should have been further ahead than by 2 points at halftime 1-04 to 0-05 .

The second half ebbed and flowed and bit by bit Moynalty got to grips with their intermediate opponents with Donal Lynch dominating at full back Raymond Owens great workrate around the middle and Ollie Sheridan in sparkling form upfront. As the game entered final 20 minutes Longwood were ahead by 1-08 to 0-08 but Moynalty took control and pushed on to the finish and looked destined to gain the 2 points leading by 1-11 to 1-08 in the final moments
