Two big games took place tonight with Meath hosting DCU in the O'Byrne Cup and Cavan entertaining UUJ in the McKenna Cup.

If they avoided defeat, the Royals would seal a semi-final date with Dublin. Meanwhile, their neighbours opened their winter campaign with a great victory over Down last weekend and could edge within touching distance of the business end of the McKenna Cup if they saw off the dangerous students of Jordanstown.

Meath V DCU threw in at 7pm in Navan, while Cavan against UUJ had a 7:30pm start at Breffni Park. We were treated to two extremely close and entertaining contests.
