Blackhall Gaels got their hands on the Meath FL Division 2 silverware yesterday but, for former Meath senior footballer Alan Nestor, the win had extra significance.
Earlier this year, the younger brother of Royal 1999 All-Ireland winner Nigel was diagnosed with testicular cancer but, after winning the biggest battle of his life, he made his return to the football field yesterday.
A Sigerson Cup winner with DIT in 2013, Nestor was introduced as a substitute late on in Blackhall's 0-12 to 0-11 success over Ballinlough at Pairc Tailteann.
