MHC: Good win for Dunderry

Dunderry's Alex Walsh celebrates

Dunderry played this Round 2 of the MHC in Dunganny on a sunny but cold morning against Blackhall/Drumree.

Blackhall were off too a flying start with a goal in the 6th minute then followed up with 2 more points. In a poor 1st half that saw Dunderry register 6 wides and didn't score until Luke Martyn pointed a free in the 20th minute, but Blackhall's opportunities to score were limited due to some excellent defending from Dunderry corner backs Aron Feeney and Mickey Dowdall. In the 28th minute Alex Walsh scored a point to leave the halftime score 0-2 to 1-2 to Blackhall.

Whatever was said by the Dunderry management at halftime woke up the team, Conor Dempsey opened the scoring in the 32nd minute then followed by a Walsh goal in the 33rd minute. Blackhall replied with a point but Cillian Leonard won a challenge in midfield and from 30 yrds out put over a fine point. Again Blackhall came back and Jamie Leavy in goal for Dunderry pulled off a brilliant save then Dowdall and Feeney both threw their in the way to block shots. A long clearance from one of those blocks found Eoghan Daly in space and ran at the defence to find the net, then Martyn went on a run beat 3 defenders and hit the net he then followed that with a free in the 52nd minute. Blackhall replied with 3 unanswered points but Dunderry ran out winners.
