Minor football team of the week

Conor Keeley scores from the penalty spot despite the acrobatics of Colmcilles keeper Jordan Browne during the MFC final at Pairc Tailteann

St Peters Dunboyne made up for last years final defeat at the hands of Donaghmore Ashbourne to win the Delaney Cup. But not before a massive scare from a very brave Colmcilles team. Moynalty won their first ever minor title while Killary Emmets and St Patricks will have to do it all over again. We pick our best XV from the 3 finals.

Jordan Browne, St Colmcilles: Produced some great saves to keep favourites St Peters at bay. Brilliant kick outs and couldn't be faulted for either second half goals.

Jamie McMahon Killary Emmets: Carried out his defensive duties with great efficiency and was brought forward on 3 occassions to kick over very important frees for the combination side.

Shane Weston, Dunboyne: If there was a man of the match award the Dunboyne full back would have been top of the list. Very strong in the tackle and got his teams first score.

Daire Boylan, Dunboyne: Some outstanding defending from the corner back especially in the second half when Colmcilles' came searching for crucial scores. Very comfortable on the ball.

Nathan Noone Garland, St Colmcilles: Along with his fine defending was always on hand to help out his forwards. Got that crucial second half goal that put the Bettystown boys back into the lead with 10 minutes to go.

Jordan McLoughlin, Dunboyne: Another name for the future. The joint captain led by example and inspired his team mates around him.

Ronan Lynch, Moynalty: Very confident in his defensive duties while always on hand to break and support his forwards. Scored a point and provided the pass for Moynalty's 3rd goal as the Division 4 title was claimed at Pairc Tailteann.

Conor O'Byrne, St Colmcilles: A classy display from the Colmcilles midfielder. Kicked two fine points and was a great link between defence and attack.

Ronan Jones, Dunboyne: Carried his form from the Division 1 league final into the minor decider. Immense in the middle of the park, some great fielding and covered every bit of Pairc Tailteann for the Peters cause.

Patrick Byrne, Moynalty: Would have been at home in any of the finals at the weekend. A real playmaker for Moynalty as the Division 4 title was brought to the tidy village. Scored three points and is certainly one for the future.

Shane Comiskey, Dunboyne: Led the attack with great effect for the minor champions, great workrate and ball distribution. Also played in the Division 1 league final, Feis Cup final and the Junior A championship final. Some going.

Daire Rowe, Killary Emmets: Electrifying pace and troubled St Pats every time he got the ball. Scored 1-6 despite having two defenders on his shoulder for most of the game.

Conor Tully, St Patricks: A real live wire in the Stamullen attack. His ball carrying ability gave Killary plenty to think about. Scored a great goal and his point from a very tricky free looked to have given St Pats victory with minutes to go.

Conor Keeley, Dunboyne: The focal point for most of the Dunboyne attacks. Won some very good possession in the air. Showed great composure for that crucial penalty and was the right man in the right place for his second goal.

Aaron Mulvaney, St Patricks: One of the best displays over the three finals. Gave the Killary defence a torrid night in Pairc Tailteann. Superb at getting out in front and going by his marker to score. Ended up with four points to his name.
