The first half was a very even contest. Longwood led 1-5 to 0-7 at the break. Luke Martyn was on fire for Dunderry in the opening 30 minutes. The midfielder hit five points his 3rd was the score of the match. John Moran and Alex Walsh completed the Dunderry first half tally. Ryan Moore was also in inspired form for Longwood sending over 3 first half points. A goal from Ryan Keenan put the 'Wood' 1-3 to 0-3 ahead after 20 minutes. As the half entered the last five minutes Longwood were rewarded a penalty but Denis Maguire's shot was well saved by Dillon Keenan.

It was all Dunderry in the opening 15 minutes of the second half. Luke Martyn added three points in this period, John Moran got in for a goal and Stephen Coogan, Walsh and Simon Carty sent over to open up a 1-13 to 1-6 lead. But Longwood worked themselves back into the match. Moore (2), Sean Coloe and Ross Healy sent over to reduce the gap to a goal. With time almost up county star Damien Healy finished a goalmouth scramble to the Dunderry net and the game was tied up. But there was still time for one more play.
