Moynalty 3-9 Duleek Bellewstown 0-5

Before proceedings got underway there was a minutes silence for the late Jim Nevin. Jimmy was a staunch Moynalty clubman.

It took both teams awhile to settle down. The games opening score didn't arrive until the 15th minute when Moynalty corner foward Fiachra Gallagher got in for a well taken goal. Anthony Nevin and Ronan Lynch quickly followed with scores to open up a five point gap. Duleek worked themselves in to the game and were rewarded with points from Aaron Seery and James Burke. They proved to be their only scores of the half while Moynalty finished out the first 30 minutes with points from the outstanding Patrick Byrne (2) and Patrick Farrelly to go it at the break 1-5 to 0-2 ahead.

Duleek Bellewstown got the first two points of the second half, both converted frees from the boot of James Burke but thats as close as they got to a more superior Moynalty team. Farrelly opened Moynalty's second half account with a point and five minutes latter the same player converted a penalty to open up a 2-6 to 0-4 lead. Robert Nevin and Burke traded scores before Moynalty finished the game in style. Farrelly and Byrne added points either side of their third goal from Karl Lynch to seal a memorable victory for the boys in 'Red'.
