Although Martin Ennis is the new Meath senior hurling team manager, the appointment of the man from Athboy received another airing at Monday night's County Committee meeting.
John Reilly of Dunboyne queried the appointment of the management team. At the October meeting it was announced that Kevin Dowd and Mickey Cole would be the selectors but it turned out that Cole's name was mentioned in error.
John Andrews was ratified as the final selector at this week's meeting and Mickey Cole will be the physio.
St Patrick's delegate John Purfield said that delegate at the October meeting had been put in a spot to nominate a man who had not been nominated. "A decision on the matter should have been postponed until this meeting," added Purfield while chairman Conor Tormey remarked, "you should have said that at the last meeting."
Paddy Kelly of Kiltale was the only man nominated for the position and his club's delegate Noel Regan remarked: I have nothing against Martin Ennis but am unhappy at the way the matter was dealt with."
TJ Reilly of Boardsmill expressed similar sentiments and offered the wish that Meath hurling will not be in the news for "the wrong reasons" in the coming year.
Hurling committee chairman Dom Reilly congratulated Cormac Reilly and Willie McGrath on being selected on the Christy Ring Cup team.
The next meeting of the County Committee will be held on Monday, November 17th and the annual convention will be in the Navan O'Mahonys cdentre on Monday, December 1st.
