Leinster Club IHC: Kiltale advance to the semi final

Kiltale's Mark O'Sullivan

Kiltale qualified for the Leinster semi-final with a well deserved 11pt victory over Wexford champions Shamrocks at Lomans Park Trim.

Kiltale started brightly and ran into a 1-4 to 0-1 lead after 20mins thanks to a goal from Kevin Ryan and points from Peter Durnin and Mark O'Sullivan and 2 pointed Jack Regan frees.
 
The Meath champions were playing against a strong breeze and Shamrocks replied with a goal and 2 points to leave the scores 1-4 to 1-3 after 25mins. Shamrocks were reduced to 14 men when their corner forward sent off after a dangerous tackle on Anthony Donnelly.
 
Kiltale finished the half with a pointed free from Jack Regan and a great solo effort by James Kelly after making a run through from midfield.
 
Shamrocks replied with a pointed free to leave it Kiltale 1-6pt Shamrocks 1-5 at halftime.
 
Kiltale started the second half brightly with points from Jack Regan (2) and one each from Peter Durnin and Mark Sullivan after great work by Stephen and John Donoghue and Eamon Ryan along the half back line who provided great quality ball into the full forward line.
 
James Kelly was winning a huge amount of puck outs and a pass to Anthony Forde saw him provide O'Sullivan with an excellent through ball which he followed onto and kicked to the net.
 
Shamrocks replied with 3pts to leave the score Kiltale 2-10 to 1-8.
 
James Kelly won another puck out and placed O'Sullivan with a great pass and he rounded his marker and off loaded to Durnin who finished to the Shamrocks net for goal number 3.
 
Kiltale finished strongly with two great Jack Regan points and 2 more from O'Sullivan who was a constant danger to the Shramrocks defence.
 
Shamrocks got 2 more points and the final score for Kiltale came from Kevin Ryan after a great run by Shane Lenihan introduced at midfield for Anthony Forde.
 
Shamrocks started to go for goals at the end but they were twarted but great defending by Anthony Donnelly, Ciaran Ennis, Shane McGann and young Conor Shiren deputising for regular full-back Padraig Donoghue.
 
Padraig Kelly and Cathal McCabe worked tiredlesly around the middle and Shamrocks found it hard to get quality ball into their full-forward line so scores were hard to come by.
