Big weekend in Leinster for 4 clubs

Podge Muldoon will lead Ballinlough into their first ever Leinster campaign when they take on Ballyfin this Saturday.

There's a big weekend in front for Ballinlough, Kiltale, Dee Ranger and Kilmessan in the Leinster club championships.

Ballinlough v Ballyfin
Fresh from their intermediate football championship final win over Ballinabrackey, Ballinlough make their first ever appearance on the Leinster circuit. Laois champions Ballyfin stand in the way of the North Meath club and a home semi final against Offaly champions Raheen.

Tom Shines charges will be hoping to extend their unbeaten run that goes back to June. The Reds will look to former county star Peadar Byrne for another big performance. A doubt remains over the availability of midfielder Derek Muldoon who is carrying an arm injury.

Ballyfin surprised many by winning the Laois IFC. They beat odds on favourites Timahoe in the county final 3-9 to 0-7. Laois county footballer James Finn inspired his team to victory that day and 17 year old corner forward Sean Moore scored 3-4. It promises to be a very interesting encounter.

Kiltale v Shamrocks
Kiltale are on the road for the 3rd week running and take on Shamrocks of Wexford in the Leinster IHC this Sunday. After comfortably beating Trim to win the Jubilee Cup for the 5th time the Meath champions stunned Kildalkey with a late comeback and claimed the Division 1 hurling league title last Saturday.

Manager Brian Gilsenan will once again look to a big performance from the Donoghues, John, Padraig, Stephen and David, Padraig and James Kelly, team captain Peter Durnin and ace marksman Jack Regan to overcome Shamrocks from Enniscorthy.

The Wexford IHC winners defeated Duffry Rovers 3-13 to 1-16 in the county final replay. Its the clubs first time back in the senior grade since 2004. The Wexford side are managed by former Buffers Alley great Paul Gahan. Out of their 3-13 scored in the final replay no less than nine of the starting XV got on the score sheet.

Kilmessan v Donard Glen
Kilmessan will hope to add the Leinster Junior camogie title to their Meath senior crown when they take on Donard Glen of Wicklow in the decider at Edenderry. The Meath girls will be bouyed up for this one after their great win over favourites Johnstownbridge in the semi final. They will look to Aileen Donnelly, Sarah Ross, Megan Ni Choileain, Katie Ni Choileain and rising star Kelly Gorman to take home the title.

Dee Ranger v Clane
Dee Rangers will be hoping to cap a memorable year by claiming the Leinster Ladies JFC crown. The Meath champions travel to Coralstown Kinnegan to take on Kildare representatives Clane. Having accounted for Dunsany with ease in the county final John Mulvanys and Eddie Donoghues charges accounted for Dromard and Clann Mhuire of Dublin to advance to the decider. The North Meath girls will look to Orlait Duff, Shauna Rowe, Briona Rowe, Lisa Young and Becks Goodwin to inspire them to victory.
