SHC: Goals the key for Kiltale and Trim

October 11, 2014

Kiltale or Trim will be hoping to get their hands on the Jubilee Cup on Sunday Afternoon.

At the beginning of the year few would have predicted that Kiltale and Trim would reach the Ted Murtagh sponsored Meath Senior Hurling Championship Final. Last years champions Kilmessan along with St Peters Dunboyne, Killyon and Kildalkey were seen as favourites for outright honours.

Goals could be the key to this final. Both teams have been prolific in front of the posts and have got a fine total of 27 goals between them. Trim have found the net 15 times while Kiltale raised the green flag on 12 occassions. The only game that both failed to find a goal was in their semi final wins.

Both teams have a fine blend of youth and experience. For years the Donoghues, David, John, Padraig and Stephen have been the backbone of this Kiltale team. Mark O'Sullivan, Shane McGann, James Kelly and Peter Durnin have a wealth of intercounty experience while the Ryan twins Ross and Ronan, Eamonn Ryan, Cathal and Fergal McCabe and Jack Regan will be hoping to land the Jubilee Cup for Kiltale's 5th time.

The return of Alan Douglas has been a major plus for Trim. James Toher has been their scorer in chief notching some fine personal tallies through the campaign. The experience of Brian Carley in goal has been pivitol for John Andrews' charges. Colm Doyle has been in inspired form all year at centre back while Ciaran Joyce and Neily Heffernan provide great pace on the wings. Colm McGrath, the McGee Brother Damo and Sean, the Andrews' boys James and Ryan along with Luke Moran will be hoping to land their first senior medal.
