After the foundation of the Camogie Association in 1928 we are glad to be celebrating 110 years.
In 1932 we saw the first All-Ireland Camogie championship take place. In 1932 Ashbourne Camogie Club was also founded by Garda Bill O'Regan and Margaret Condon shortly followed by Donaghmore Camogie Club. Both clubs combined shortly after.
Sadly camogie was disbanded from 1956 until 1974. With the aid of Peg Kavanagh, Donaghmore Camogie was re-established.
Sadly at the age of 40 Peg passed away after suffering with cancer and we now run our annual Memorial Tournament in her honour. Peg's husband Jamsey continued to support the camogie and became a loyal supporter driving the camogie team to every corner of the county for their matches. Sadly he also developed cancer and passed away.
In light of the 110 year anniversary and in memory of those who helped establish and grow camogie in Donaghmore/Ashbourne we are holding a 2 day event.
