Meath goalscorer Ollie Murphy with Cork's Anthony Lynch during the 1999 All Ireland SFC Final at Croke Park.

What a day - Sunday September 26th 1999. Meath were crowned All Ireland Senior Football Champions as the Royal County claimed their 7th crown and the last All-Ireland title of the Millennium.

It was Sean Boylan's fourth All Ireland success as Cork were beaten by 1-11 to 1-8. Who will ever forget Graham Geraghty receiving the Sam Maguire Cup in the middle of Croke Park.

It was wet at headquarters and the Royals had a three point lead at the break. Meath had a chance to take complete control but for a great save from Cork keeper Kevin O'Dwyer from a Trevor Giles penalty early in the second half. Shortly afterwards Cork got a goal and took the lead for the first time and the game sprung to life. But typical of Meath, they refused to buckle and regained their composure to play some fantastic football in the last twenty minutes outscoring the Munster men 0-6 to 0-2. Giles was immense, Mark O'Reilly, Darren Fay and Enda McManus brilliant at the back, while McDermott and Crawford lorded the middle. Evan Kelly and Graham Geraghty kicked three points each from play and Ollie Murphy as he did all year got the important goal.

Meath scorers that day were: Trevor Giles 0-4, Evan Kelly, Graham Geraghty 0-3 each, Ollie Murphy 1-0, Donal Curtis 0-1.

Meath: Cormac Sullivan, Mark O'Reilly, Darren Fay, Cormac Murphy, Paddy Reynolds, Enda McManus, Hank Traynor, Nigel Crawford, John McDermott, Evan Kelly, Trevor Giles, Nigel Nestor, Ollie Murphy, Graham Geraghty, Donal Curtis. Subs: Richie Kealy, Barry Callaghan and Tommy Dowd.
