The hoganstand.com Meath football team of the week

Seneschalstown claimed their 8th Feis Cup title, Ballinabrackey knockout another favourite and will meet Ballinlough in the Intermediate decider while Kilmainham keep their Intermediate status at the expense of Carnaross. We pick our best XV from the weekend gone by.

David Lyons Seneschalstown. A couple of outstanding saves including one at the feet of Ronan Jones as The Yellow Furze men claimed their 8th Feis Cup title.

Benji Smith Ballinlough.  Yet again another fine defensive display from the Ballinlough corner back. Brilliant at turning defence into attack with his pace.

Derek Flynn Ballinabrackey. A great display by the full back especially in the second half when Ratoath were pouring forward looking for scores. Small in stature but big in heart, held Frank Coyne to a single score.

Damien Sweeney Dunboyne. Listed at No 6 but moved to the edge of the square and his tussle with Joe Sheridan was one of the highlights of the Feis Cup final.

Emmet Boyle Ratoath. Best player for the Dublin border outfit in Lomans Park. Raided up the wings on numerous occasions in search of crucial scores against Ballinabrackey.

Colm Mallen Ballinlough. Has become a very key figure at the centre of defence for the North Meath club. Another great display against Castletown in Pairc Tailteann.

Dara Kennedy Ballinabrackey. Tasked with tracking the dangerous Joey Wallace for the hour at Lomans Park. The former Edenderry Colleges player carried out his duties with great effect.

Peadar Byrne Ballinlough. An outstanding and very assured performance from the former county man. Scored 1-3 as Ballinlough qualified for the IFC final, their first since 1991.

Michael Newman Kilmainham. Best man on the pitch, kicked ten points as Kilmainham insured Intermediate football for 2015 with a relegation play off win over Carnaross.

Trevor Bannon Ballinabrackey. Used his years of experience to great effect. Scored 1-2 his goal, a very clever flick, came just at the right time as The Bracks advanced to the IFC final.

Seanie Geraghty Ballinlough. Not far behind club mate Peadar Byrne for player of the match. Link man for most Reds attacks and kicked three fine points as Castletown were sent packing at Navan.

Kenny Smith Castletown. Gave Ballinlough plenty to think about in the semi final at Pairc Tailteann. Scored 1-1, his goal one of the highlights in a great game of football.

Ronan Jones Dunboyne. If there was a Man of the Match Award in the Feis Cup decider the Meath minor would have been one of the front runners. Worked his socks of for the Peters cause.

Joe Sheridan Seneschalstown. Four points from play and a constant threat to the Dunboyne rearguard as Seneschalstown collected their first Feis Cup title since 2008.

Donal Lenihan Dunboyne. Despite the Feis Cup final loss the county senior turned in an impressive performance scoring a goal and seven points.
